Welcome to The Gun Doctor
In order to help you with your gunsmith needs, please bring in your firearm. We will give you a free estimate over-the-counter. Sometimes, we may need to call you with a more accurate estimate. We do not give estimates over the phone.
The person who drops off the firearm is the only person allowed to pick it up. Unfortunately, this is the law. Also, it is our policy, and we make no exceptions. Rarely do we do gunsmith work on your firearm while you wait. We will notify you when work is complete, mostly in 1-7 days.
We offer detailed firearms cleaning.
Cleaning most makes and models of rifles, shotguns, pistols, and revolvers. Our gunsmith inspects and completely disassembles the firearm for cleaning. The firearm will be test fired upon completion. Cleaning may include the following,
- Removing rust and corrosion.
- Heavy cleaning inside rifled barrels.
- Polishing the chamber.
Firearm Gun repairs.
After inspecting, troubleshooting, and diagnosing, we will call you, if needed, to discuss extra repair costs you may incur. Which may include, parts, cleaning, unexpected labor, or occasionally, shipping to the manufacturer. Some examples of gunsmith repairs,
- Broken or cracked stocks and forends.
- Straightening bent shotgun barrel, not ribbed barrels.
- Replacing and fitting parts.
- Remove stuck chokes.
Optics installation.
We can assist with installing most optics including, scopes, pistol sights, and iron sights. Some rings, mounts, and sights can be found in our store. However, we will gladly install any optics and accessories you bring in. Upon completing installation, our gunsmith will bore-sight your optic. Bore-sight gets your firearm close enough to more easily sight-in. Our sight-in service is specific to each firearm. Therefore, we will discuss your options in store.
Trigger upgrades and kits.
We install most trigger kits and upgrades on firearms such as, rifles, pistols, and revolvers. Make sure the kit or trigger you provide us is made for your make and model gun. Kits must be in unopened packaging to ensure that all parts are present and still in factory condition.
- Drop-in triggers.
- Spring kits.
- Reduce pull kits.
Advanced gunsmith services.
Our gunsmith offers many extra services. Common requests include, modify parts to fit antique guns. Cutting length of pull on butt-stocks. Thread shotguns for choke tubes. Hand-fitting and installing parts and accessories. A few installation services we offer,
- Drill and install studs for sling swivels.
- Magazine tube extensions.
- Butt plates and grind-to-fit recoil pads.
- Pin and weld muzzle devices.
- Shotgun stocks and forends.
- Drill and tap for scope mounts and shotgun beads.

We will only take-in and work on ARs with a visible serial number. Because the laws are changing, please be aware of the legality of your firearm in SC. For more information on state laws, go to ATF.gov or click the link. https://www.atf.gov.
